Google’s releases it’s direct o1 competitor 🥊 

Google has introduced Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental, a new AI model designed to enhance reasoning capabilities by pausing to "think" through complex problems. This model explicitly shows its thought process while solving problems, similar to OpenAI's o1 model, but it is free-to-use and reportedly faster 👀 

This model is built upon Gemini 2.0 Flash, and features an increase in the computation time, it results in improved reasoning, leading to longer but potentially more accurate responses.

The model is now ranked #1 on the Chatbot Arena across all categories and is available through Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, and Vertex AI.

xAI’s bags MASSIVE funding 💵 📈 

Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, has secured $6 billion in a Series C financing round, bringing its total funding to $12 billion 👀 

The round saw participation from major investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Blackrock, Fidelity, Lightspeed, MGX, Morgan Stanley, OIA, QIA, Sequoia Capital, Valor Equity Partners, Vy Capital, Nvidia, and AMD. Kingdom Holdings, a Saudi conglomerate, contributed approximately $400 million 📈 

This funding round has nearly doubled xAI's valuation to $45 billion.

The funds will be used to accelerate the development of xAI's advanced infrastructure, launch innovative consumer and enterprise products, and enhance research and development efforts.

Is Google using Claude to improve Gemini? 🤔 

Google is leveraging Anthropic's Claude AI to enhance its Gemini AI model. 

Contractors working on Gemini are comparing its responses to those generated by Claude to evaluate accuracy, truthfulness, and verbosity. This process involves scoring each response based on multiple criteria, with contractors given up to 30 minutes per prompt.

The comparisons have highlighted differences in safety measures between the two models. Claude is noted for its strict safety settings, often refusing to engage with prompts it deems unsafe, while Gemini has faced issues with generating inappropriate content. 

Google has clarified that while it compares model outputs for evaluation, it does not use Claude to train Gemini 🤔 

This practice has raised questions about consent and industry norms, as Anthropic's terms of service prohibit using Claude to create competing AI models without approval 👀 

Google steps into the AI humanoid game (again) 🤖 

Google DeepMind has announced a strategic partnership with Apptronik, an Austin-based robotics company, to advance the development of AI-powered humanoid robots 🤖 

This collaboration aims to combine Google DeepMind's AI expertise, such as Gemini, with Apptronik's cutting-edge robotics hardware to create versatile and intelligent humanoid robots capable of operating in dynamic environments 🌆 

Apptronik, known for its human-centered design and safety-focused hardware, has developed the Apollo humanoid robot, which stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. Apollo is designed to perform physically demanding tasks and operate safely alongside humans in industrial settings.

This marks Google's return to humanoid robotics after selling Boston Dynamics in 2017. The collaboration aims to address global challenges like labor shortages and aging populations by creating robots that can assist in various industries, including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and eldercare ✅
