OpenAI’s o3-mini is coming soon… 🤖👀 

OpenAI is gearing up to launch its latest reasoning AI model, the o3-mini, within the next couple of weeks 📈 

This new model is designed to handle complex tasks across various domains, including science, mathematics, and coding. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman confirmed the finalization of the o3-mini model and mentioned that both the API and ChatGPT will be released simultaneously 👀 

The o3-mini model is part of OpenAI's advanced reasoning models, following the release of the o1 models in September 2024. These new models are expected to be more powerful and capable of tackling even more challenging tasks. OpenAI has been testing these models with external safety researchers to ensure their reliability and effectiveness ✅

In addition to the o3-mini model, OpenAI is also working on the larger o3 model, which is expected to launch after the o3-mini.

The company is continuously innovating and releasing new features, such as the beta feature called Tasks for ChatGPT, which aims to compete with virtual assistants like Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa 🤖 

Meta finally deleted it’s AI profiles 🤖 

Meta Platforms Inc. has decided to delete a collection of AI-powered profiles it created on Facebook and Instagram in 2023.

This decision follows a social media backlash triggered by an interview given by Connor Hayes, Meta's vice president of product for generative AI 🤖 

In August 2023, Meta introduced several generative AI features, including Meta AI, a chatbot with an image generator and Bing integration. Alongside this, 28 AI-powered profiles inspired by celebrities were launched. 

Due to low user interest, most of these profiles were scrapped, leaving about a dozen accounts that became the focus of recent controversy.

The AI profiles featured a mix of machine-generated and human-created posts and allowed users to chat with the AI. However, users could not block content from these accounts, leading to criticism. In response, Meta has pledged to delete the profiles and issued a statement saying that the accounts were part of an early experiment with AI characters.

The company identified a bug that was impacting the ability for people to block these AIs and decided to remove the accounts to fix the issue.

DeepSeek’s open-source R1 beats OpenAI o1 📈 

DeepSeek, a Chinese AI lab, has released its latest reasoning model, DeepSeek-R1, which has reportedly surpassed OpenAI's o1 model in several benchmarks.

The DeepSeek-R1 model is designed to enhance problem-solving and analytical capabilities, making it a powerful tool for tasks like mathematics, coding, and general knowledge ✅ 

One of the standout features of DeepSeek-R1 is its affordability. The model is available at just 5-10% of the cost of OpenAI's o1 model.

Additionally, DeepSeek-R1 is open-source and available under an MIT license, allowing developers to modify and use the model for their own purposes2.

DeepSeek-R1 has demonstrated impressive performance across various benchmarks, including AIME, MATH-500, and SWE-bench Verified.

The model's reasoning approach, similar to OpenAI's o1, takes longer but produces more reliable results in domains like physics, science, and math 📈 

Character AI’s big move towards AI entertainment 🎮️ 

Character AI, a startup known for its AI-powered chatbots, is now testing games on its desktop and mobile web apps to boost user engagement.

The games, available to paid subscribers and a limited number of free users, include "Speakeasy" and "War of Words".

This move aligns with Character AI's goal of positioning itself as an entertainment platform rather than just focusing on AI companions. The company has undergone significant changes, with co-founders Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas leaving for Google, and Dominic Perella stepping in as interim CEO. C
