Big investors are buying this “unlisted” stock

When the founder who sold his last company to Zillow for $120M starts a new venture, people notice. That’s why the same VCs who backed Uber, Venmo, and eBay also invested in Pacaso.

Disrupting the real estate industry once again, Pacaso’s streamlined platform offers co-ownership of premier properties, revamping the $1.3T vacation home market.

And it works. By handing keys to 2,000+ happy homeowners, Pacaso has already made $110M+ in gross profits in their operating history.

Now, after 41% YoY gross profit growth last year alone, they recently reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

FRESH AI NEWS

Sam Altman’s bold plan to merge mind and machine 🧠

Sam Altman and OpenAI Ventures are stepping into the brain-computer interface field by supporting Merge Labs, a startup that plans to compete with Elon Musk’s Neuralink using AI-powered neural implants 🤖

  • Merge Labs is co-founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania from World/Tools for Humanity. It has an estimated value of $850 million and is trying to raise $250 million, led by OpenAI’s ventures team 🧠

  • The new company competes with Musk’s Neuralink in developing AI-enhanced brain implants. Neuralink, valued at $9 billion, has started human trials after raising $650 to $600 million ⚙️

  • Altman expands on his 2017 "merge" concept, blending human and machine intelligence. Merge Labs seeks to realize this vision with advanced AI, renewing the Altman-Musk rivalry in human-AI integration

Why You Should Care: This move intensifies the public, high-stakes competition between these two AI leaders and pushes the brain-computer interface space into new, AI-driven areas. This has significant implications for medical innovation, human enhancement, and the future of human-AI partnerships.

Perplexity’s wild play for Chrome 🎯

Perplexity AI, a three-year-old startup valued at around $18 billion, made headlines by offering $34.5 billion in cash to acquire Google’s Chrome browser 🚀

  • It has backing from outside investors and promised to invest an extra $3 billion over two years. It also aims to keep Chrome’s Chromium engine open source while keeping Google as the default search provider 💸

  • As a federal judge considers solutions in a major antitrust case against Google, divesting Chrome is a possible outcome, and Perplexity appears to be preparing for this scenario ⚖️

  • Analysts are skeptical that Google will sell such an important asset. Still, this daring bid acts as a prominent marketing tactic, highlighting Perplexity’s AI goals and its AI browser, Comet 🧑‍💻

Why You Should Care: The bid shows how AI startups are taking a proactive approach, using bold and unconventional tactics to challenge the dominance of tech giants. Whether this will lead to anything significant or not, it clearly indicates Perplexity’s ambition to be a key player in the changing AI-search ecosystem.

The Glasses that let you “See” with AI 👓

Envision and Solos have partnered to launch Ally Solos Glasses, smart eyewear that uses cameras and Envision's "Ally" AI assistant to describe the world for blind and low-vision users

  • These glasses have cameras and open-ear speakers. They can read and translate text, recognize faces, objects, and signs, describe surroundings, and even search the web, all through voice feedback 👓

  • These glasses, unlike their predecessor AirGo Vision with GPT-4o, use Envision's "Ally" assistant, combining Llama, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity for smart, flexible responses 🤖

  • Available now for $399 (originally $699) in regular and large frames, multiple colors. Features include IP67 dust and water resistance, up to 16 hours battery life, and fast USB-C charging. Shipping begins October 2025 💰

Why You Should Care: By integrating advanced AI into a wearable design, Ally Solos Glasses aim to greatly improve independence for visually impaired users. They will make everyday navigation, reading, and social interactions simpler and more accessible.

Anthropic gives Claude a massive memory boost 🔋

Anthropic has upgraded Claude Sonnet 4 with a huge 1 million-token context window. This upgrade allows the AI to handle prompts up to five times longer than before, extending its capabilities well beyond GPT-5 🤖

  • Claude Sonnet 4’s context window now spans up to 1 million tokens, which is about 750,000 words. That’s roughly five times its previous limit of 200k tokens and even exceeds the 400k-token window of GPT-5 🎓

  • This expansion allows Claude to handle large inputs, such as the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy or codebases with 75,000 to 110,000 lines, in one prompt, making it ideal for complex software and legal workflows 📚

  • The new feature is now available via Anthropic’s API for high-tier enterprise clients and on cloud platforms like Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, with a wider rollout planned soon 🌍

Why You Should Care: With much greater working memory, Claude can handle large, context-rich tasks. It can summarize stacks of documents or manage extensive coding in one go. This makes it a more powerful choice for enterprise and developer-focused applications.

Gemini gets a personal memory upgrade 📈

Google is upgrading its Gemini AI chatbot to automatically remember users' past chat details and preferences, which improves personalization right from the start, while still allowing users to turn it off⚡

  • By default, Gemini will now remember important personal details and preferences from previous conversations without needing specific prompts 🧠

  • Users can disable this feature under “Personal Context → Your past chats with Gemini.” The rollout begins today for the Gemini 2.5 Pro model in select countries and will later expand to the 2.5 Flash model and more regions 🔒

  • The new Temporary Chats mode ensures that sensitive or one-off exchanges aren’t saved, used for personalization, or training AI models. These chats will automatically delete after 72 hours 🕒

Why You Should Care: Gemini’s new memory-first approach allows the AI to function more like a personal assistant that understands your habits, without losing control. This positions Google to compete more effectively with rivals like ChatGPT by combining convenience with stronger privacy measures.
